21. Grief Over Fatima

Following Sayyida Fatima’s will, Imam Ali buried her secretly at night with only a few companions and family members present. After completing the burial, Imam Ali sat down near her grave grieving and mourning. He faced the grave of the Prophet and said: “Peace be Upon You oh Prophet of Allah, Peace be upon you and your daughter, who will be visiting you, who will be sleeping in the dust today, and who Allah has chosen to quickly follow you.”

It is narrated that Ammar Ibn Yassir came to Imam Ali after the martyrdom of Sayyida Fatema and found him wailing continuously. So he asked him: Oh my Master, you command your followers to be patient, so what is this long grief? He said: “Oh Ammar, I have lost the Prophet again after the martyrdom of Fatima.”
