3. The Mentor

The Holy Prophet (SAW) and his wife Khadija adopted Imam Ali(as) after the death of their own sons. Ali (as) thus filled a void in their lives. But Muhammad (saw), the future prophet, also had another reason for adopting Ali (as). He picked out Ali to bring him up, to educate him, and to ready him for the great destiny that awaited him in the times to come.
In the years to come, the creative and spiritual synergy of Muhammad (saw) and Ali (as)– the master and the disciple – was going to place Islam on the map of the world and change the course of humanity for centuries to come.
